Saving videos with date and time stamps

I have a number of DV video tapes from over the years and want to save them as DVD’s. I had no idea so many capture programs don’t have a way to capture the time and date. I would like to be able to watch the DVD’s and know when the scene was shot.
Through a lot of frustration I found DVDate and so far it does what I need except it doesn’t seem to save the encoded videos. It plays them showing the proper date and time but I can’t find any that supposedly were saved. Am I missing something here?
